Aalu pyaj pakoda or onion-potato fritters

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cup besan/ gram flour,
  • 1/2 tsp green chillies ( finely chopped),
  • 1/2 tsp ginger ( finely chopped/ grated),
  • 1 cup potatoes peeled and finely chopped,
  • 1 cup onions finely chopped,
  • Salt to taste,
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder,
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain/ carom seeds,
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder,
  • Oil to fry.
       
          

Method:

Step 1: In a mixing bowl, mix besan with red chili powder, ajwain, salt, turmeric powder.
Step 2: Add water gradually to make slightly thick batter.
        
Step 3: Then add chopped potatoes, onions,green chili,ginger and mix properly. Batter for pakora is ready.

Step 4: Heat oil in a pan, then drop some portion of batter in the pan to make pakora, then deep fry them on medium flame till they become golden.
   
Step 5: Remove pakora and drain the excess oil.
Step 6: Fry the pakora in batches like this way.
 
Step 7: Sprinkle some chaat masala over the pakora and serve hot or warm with chutney of your choice or tomato ketchup.
