BESAN CHEELA RECIPE

- 1 cup besan ( gram flour)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 small green chili
- 1/2 tsp carom seeds ( ajwain)/ cumin seeds
- 1/4tsp Haldi ( turmeric powder)
- 1/4 tsp red chili powder
- 1 cup water or add as required
- Salt as per taste
- Oil as required
How to prepare recipe:
Step 2: Add all chopped veggies.
Step 3: Add all spices except oil and mix it all.
Step 4: Now add water. Adding water a little at a time.
Step 5: Mix everything. Adding water will be less or more depending on the texture of the besan.
Step 6: Mix to a smooth flowing consistency in the batter. Break lumps if any.
Step 7: Heat pan or tawa on low flame. Then spread a bit of oil on the pan.
Step 8: Let the pan become medium hot then take a ladle full of batter and pour on the pan.
Step9: Gently with the back of the ladle, begin to spread the batter gently so that cheela does not break.
Step 10: On the low flame cook the cheela till the top begins to look cooked.
Step 11: Then drizzle 1/2 tsp oil on the cheela at the edges.
Step 12: Cook till base gets light golden.
Step 13: Flip and now cook another side. Cook this side till you see golden spots on the cheela.
Step 14: Serve hot and warm. Besan cheela are best had hot. Serve plain or with any chutney/pickles of your choice.
Tips
# Do chop all the above veggies finely if chopped even in slightly large pieces it becomes difficult to spread the cheela in the pan.
# you can add any veggies of your choice.
# if you wish to add 1/4 cup of plain yogurt in cheela batter.
