Mutton curry recipe

Ingredients :

  • 700 gms mutton pieces,
  • 3tbsp oil,
  • 3 medium sized onions finely chopped, 
  • 2tbsp ginger garlic paste/ finely chopped,
  • 4 green chilli finely chopped, 
  • Salt to taste,
  • 1tbsp red chilli powder,
  • 1/2tbsp turmeric powder,
  • 2tbsp coriander seed powder,
  • 1 medium sized tomato,
  • 1tbsp garam masala powder,
  • 2 red chillies (optional),
  • 2 bay leaves (optional).
         
      

     How to prepare mutton curry recipe: 

Instructions:

Step 1: Wash mutton well under running water. Drain completely and keep it aside.

Step 2: Take a pressure cooker or a heavy bottom pot, add oil into it and heat it.
          

Step 3: Add Bay leaves and red chilies. You can skip this if you do not have bay leaves and red chilies.

Step 4: Add finely chopped onions and fry them till they turn slightly golden color.
       

Step 5: Add finely chopped ginger garlic and green chilies and saute for few minutes till the raw smell disappear.
 

Step 6: Now add all spices, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder,coriander seed powder, garam masala, mix well and cook for about 10-12 minutes on low flame.
    
Step 7: Add the chopped tomatoes, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Till all spices well cooked and oil started leaving the sides.
       

Step 8: Add the mutton pieces and cook for  2-3 minutes.
  
Step 9: Now add water about 2 cups and pressure cook till you get about 2 whistles in pressure cooker or till mutton get tender and juicy.
  
Step 10: Switch off the flame. Let the pressure release by itself.
      


Step 11: Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti(chapati).

Tips:

# Masala should be cooked  before adding mutton.
# Mutton pieces should not be cooked more than 3 minutes before adding water and closing cooker lid else mutton will not be soft and juicy after cooking.
